I joined a friend of mine ‘Sugar Free Challenge’ for the week following Easter, we all can get into the trap of the holidays and eating everything in sight – especially when the Easter Bunny lays chocolate eggs ALL over the place!.. I’ve cut out sugar for almost a week, I have been trying to fill the void with nutritious foods for the sweet tooth because did you know if you’re craving something sweet there’s something else your body needs?
As I am trying to become more intuitive with my eating habits and listening to what my body really needs in that moment (it’s a slow process but getting there). I was CRAVING sweet potatoes this morning! I searched & searched on Pinterest for Sweet Potato breakfast recipes.. but I was always missing 1 or 2 ingredients to make the exact recipe plus 35-40 mins in the oven to cook, no thanks! because you know we live in a world of instant gratification…
I thought how can I make this quick & easy! So I got creative…
- Cut a small sweet potato lengthwise, cook on the stove for 8-10 mins. Add to bowl, smash it up!!
- 1 TBSP Hemp Hearts
- 1 TSP Chia Seeds
- 1 TBSP Almond Butter

Sweet Potatoes provides a sweet sensation when cooked so later you won’t be wanting to reach for those chocolates sitting on your counter from the Easter bunny.. Hemp Hearts can be a great source of protein and supports brain health as they’re high in Omega-3s – woohoo! Chia Seeds gives your body Fiber.. And why the Almond Butter? Well, Why not! Since almonds promote heart health.
I feel fuelled and ready to put the YAY in my FRI-YAY without having a sugar crash in an hour or two!
I ask you this.. How can you listen to your body this weekend?
